What
is BOTOX®?
BOTOX is the trade
name for a highly purified toxin, Botulism ToxinType-A
made
from the C. botulinum bacteria.
When injected into a
specific muscle, BOTOX temporarily weakens or paralyzes that
muscle.
Who are
candidates for BOTOX®?
For cosmetic purposes, the
best results are seen in patients whose wrinkles are caused by
over-active facial muscles. These are the wrinkles are usually in
the forehead, between the eyebrows, and the crow’s
feet.
Patients look (and sometimes feel) more relaxed and
refreshed. For most patients the improvement in appearance lasts
4 to 5 months. The wrinkles then return gradually.
